I was born the oldest boy in a family of nine. We were poor, with no money for food. I was introduced to hunting at a young age in order to feed the household. I used sling shot and home made bows and arrows, at first, to kill ruffle grouse and rabbits. I harvested my first whitetail deer at age 11.
I joined the military at age 18 and found myself in Manitoba. Soon after I was introduced to moose hunting and spent many years doing so (without much luck). After a moose seminar I attended, I received some renewed confidence and that year, and every year after that, I have shot a moose.
Eight years ago I started to guide on the Churchill River, after that, the Tundra for caribou and finally back to hunt moose at Dafoe Lake for Mystery Country Outpost. The key to a good hunting trip is being well prepared when you leave the concrete streets of the city. The weather can be your best friend or your worst enemy.
